SÓ Sligo Food Festival ready to delight

The Só Sligo Food and Culture Festival with the support of Connacht Gold are looking for this year’s Junior Master Chef 2011.  They have invited secondary school students to compile a menu of their choice, comprising of a starter, main course and dessert for two people.

The menu will be assessed by a panel of prestigious judges.  The successful finalists will be invited to take part in The Junior Master Chef Challenge Grand Final which will be held on Friday, 18th March 2011, at St. Angela’s College, Clogherevagh, Co. Sligo.

This was just one of the highlights of the SÓ Sligo Food Festival which will take place from the 16th  20th March 2011. The official launch took place last week in the Tre Ban restaurant in Strandhill when the Mayor of Sligo, Cllr Matt Lyons gave the festival his official imprimatur.

The festival will promote the varied culinary delights available throughout Sligo, town and county. A typical example of the quality of food in Sligo was the announcement this week of the prestigious Irish Food Writer's Guild Award for venison to Coopershill House and farm in Riverstown, Co Sligo.
