Following the hugely successful fundraising Night Walk to the top of Ben Bulben last year, Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team is busy planning this year's event that will take place on Saturday the 21st of July.
Ben Bulben Mountain is an iconic symbol for both Sligo and the rest of the Ireland. The challenge to reach the summit in the dark will be a personal achievement while helping raise much needed funds for a local volunteer emergency service. Funds raised on this years walk will go towards the training of three of their members as Emergency Medical Technicians, which will greatly enhance the medical skills levels of the team.
The main changes to this years walk are that numbers will be restricted to 150 walkers and registration will be online only. This will ensure the highest level of safety on the hill for both walkers and Team Members. 3 groups of 50 will be guided up the mountain leave The Oxfield Centre 45 minutes apart.
The Oxfield Committee have generously offered their valuable resources to enable the Team to concentrate on the task of ensuring the safety of all involved.
So are you interested abit of adventure? In climbing Ben Bulben with friends in the moonlight or helping support your local mountain rescue team then go online and signup now to ensure your place.
The registration webpage is now live, so please follow the links below for full details.
The Oxfield Centre will be the only car parking point available to connect with the shuttle buses, and road access to the start point of the walk will be restricted to those buses and emergency vehicles only.
Finally, the Team would like to extend a last big thank you to Rowan and the Oxfield Team for their valuable support.
We look forward to seeing you all there, for the highlight of your summer.
