A TEENAGER from Nigeria forced to work 16 hour days in a brothel in Sligo later brought down a pimp to whom she was paying €1,000 daily.
The young woman was brought to Ireland in May 2007 using a false passport. She spent a month in a bed and breakfast in Dublin before she was told was going to be working as a hooker.
Next day 'Rena' was driven to Sligo by another woman ''stopping only to buy condoms, wipes and a mobile.''
She was told to charge rates in Sligo of €160 for half an hour and €260 for an hour. Her phone started ringing as soon as she arrived in Sligo.
''My mobile phone would ring and somebody would tell me a client was on the way.
''The clients would come any time after eleven in the morning up until two or three in the morning.
''Some of the clients when they see me would just leave because they would say I am too young. They would feel for me,'' a Sunday newspaper quoted.
Escaped By BusShe was later forced to work in other Irish towns including Enniskillen, Athlone, Dundalk and Drogheda.
Using tips given her clients she travelled to Dublin by bus with €400 in her pocket, where she went to Gardai.
The PSNI and Welsh police were later given access to 'Rena's' evidence.
The pimp, TJ Carroll, was earning an estimated €1 million per year from his vice business, which he operated in almost every Irish town.
The details were revealed in a special
Sunday World supplement by
Eamon Dillon this weekend.
