On Friday night, in the Crozon Inn, Sligo Young Fine Gael, held a fundraising ‘Quiz’ in aid of the Foróige C.R.I.B. in Sligo town. Over €600 was raised by on the night and a large crowd turned out to support the youth charity event.
Event organiser, and local political activist, Blaine Gaffney stated "Sligo YFG have a good understanding of the role which Foroige plays here in the local Sligo Community and we are definitely aware of the many difficulties which the charity faces in terms of finances". “I am aware of many children who use the service in Sligo and who would rate it as being excellent. In fact I used the service myself during my early teenage years”.
“On this bases, we wanted to try and do something positive for Foroige in Sligo, and to try and raise some funding which could go towards their youth cafe in Sligo town or towards one of the trips away which the organisation conducts every year”.
“I am delighted with the turn out and the money raised and I want to say a big thank you to everyone who attended the event and also a very big thank you to all the local businesses who sponsored prizes and supported our event,” concluded Mr Gaffney.
Chairman of Sligo Young Fine Gael, Walter Burke said that we hope run similar events like this one in the future”. We aim to focus on many other youth issues in Sligo going forward”.
