Road and Traffic Report - w/c Monday 26 September

MAJOR WORKS:

SLIGO AREA:

As part of the O’Connell Street Watermain and Sewer Rehabilitation Works being undertaken by Irish Water, O’Connell Street remains closed to vehicular traffic from Monday September 5th until Wednesday November 30th.  A traffic management plan will be in place for the duration of the works which will include facilitating deliveries between 8am and 12noon Monday to Saturday.  Diversions will be in place via Lower John Street, Adelaide Street and Wine Street.

Night time only road closures between 7pm and 7am will commence on Lower Knox Street and Wine Street from Monday 26th September until Sunday 16th October (3 weeks).  Diversions will be in place via Sligo Inner Relief Road, Hughes Bridge and Markievicz Road.

Footpath refurbishment works on Markievicz Road are nearing completion. Alterations to the traffic island at Markievicz Road/The Slip are ongoing. Over the coming fortnight, works will comprise the undergrounding of the ESB overhead network and the installation of new public lighting. New road markings will be put in place shortly to facilitate the new road layout between the Slip and the junction of Connaughton Road/Lake Isle Road.  Traffic management will remain in place until the Road Markings are complete.

Major road works are ongoing on Finisklin Road, Sligo. Works involve provision of a new watermain, road widening, surfacing works, footpaths and accommodation works. Traffic management is in place. Delays expected over the coming weeks. Parking is prohibited on the Hanley’s Yard side of Finisklin Road between Pirnmill Road and the Railway Bridge.


NORTH SLIGO

Essential repair works are being carried out on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland at Castlegal Bridge, Glencar on the N16 National Primary Road.  Traffic Management will be in place with delays expected.  Works are expected to last for several weeks.

COUNTY WIDE

A Japanese Knotweed eradication programme, will be undertaken on the N4, N15, N16, N17 and N59 National Routes. The programme is expected to commence on Thursday the 29th of September and will extend for a period of approximately 2 weeks. Temporary Traffic Management Plans will be in place from time to time on the various routes outlined.


ENNISCRONE:


Accommodation and civil works associated with the N17 Realignment Thornhill Bridge & Cloonacurra Overlay Contract 2015 will continue on the N17 National Primary Road between Ballynacarrow North and Cloonacurra townland. Traffic Management will be in place with major delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 2 weeks.  

Road restoration will commence on the R290 at Rinn/Collooney. A stop/go system will be in operation.  Minor delays expected.

Works continue on the N59 Pavement Overlay Scheme between the village of Dromore West and the townland of Templeboy. Traffic Management will be in place with delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 1 week.

TUBBERCURRY AREA:


Verge trimming works will commence along the R294 from Lough Talt to County boundary with Roscommon at Cloonloo. Traffic control will be in operation with significant delays expected. Works are expected to last 3 weeks.

Footpath construction works will continue at the junction of the N17 Circular Road and the Masshill Road, Tubbercurry. Traffic control will be in operation with minor delays expected. Works are expected to last 1 week.

BALLYMOTE AREA:


The installation of road sensors on the N4 north of Drumfin crossroads will be carried out on Friday 30th September.  Traffic control will be in place with minimal delays expected.

Trench Reinstatement works will be carried out on the N4 at Cloonlurg. Traffic control will be in place with minimal delays expected.

Road L 5403 closed at Cams Bridge, (approximately 150m from the Cams /Kilmorgan crossroad) for the next four weeks due to urgent bridge repair works.  Alternative route via L5402 and N4 to Ardloy /L5403 junction. Traffic Management will be in place.

Pipelaying works continuing along a 400m stretch of the Castlebaldwin Road leading out of Ballymote and along a 4km stretch of the R295 from Ballymote towards Boyle. Traffic Management is in place and minor delays are expected. It is anticipated that all works will be completed by mid October, 2016.


ROAD SIGNAGE WORKS:


Works will also continue on The R297 and R298 between Dromore West and Enniscrone

Location of KN gangs - gangs will be in the Pearse Road and Devins Drive.


MINOR WORKS:

SLIGO CITY AREA:


Hoarding has been erected at the corner of Lord Edward Street and Union Street. Provision has been made for pedestrian access and works are expected to last several weeks.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

Ongoing Road Openings to take place at various locations over the coming weeks due to broadband upgrade.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

ENNISCRONE AREA:


Road Restoration will be carried out in Doonflin/Farranharpy.  A temporary road closure will be in place.  Local access will be provided a 50km speed limit will be in operation at site of works.

Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

BALLYMOTE AREA:


Road Resurfacing works will commence on the L-1201 at Tunnagh (weather permitting).

The road will be closed to through traffic with signed diversions in place.
Works are expected to last 1 day.

Pothole repair works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
