International Adventure Tour Operator of the Year Award Comes to Sligo

Northwest Adventure Tours who are based at the Riverside Hotel Sligo and offer cycling, hiking, stand up paddle boarding trips and free-diving have just been awarded the prestigious title of Adventure Tour Operator of the Year by the European Luxury Travel Awards.

Operated by Sligo natives William Britton and Warner Wilders, Northwest Adventure Tours are celebrating five years in business this year. They have beaten off very stiff competition from all over Europe to bring this award home.

Winners of the Luxury Travel Guide Awards have been subjected to rigorous assessment criteria, carried out by industry professionals. Securing a much-coveted place in the awards winners’ guide is a huge achievement for North West Adventure Tours. The award winners guide is distributed to over 500,000 people worldwide, this will provide huge profile for the growing adventure tourism industry in Sligo.

William and Warner, the excited duo believes there are a couple of reasons that they won the award “We are genuinely passionate about adventure tourism, and the judges told us that, that shone through. We also have had such good support from our partners, working with Joe Grogan and his team at the Riverside Hotel has allowed us to offer not only day trips but also full residential holidays in one of Sligo’s best hotels.

William said, "This partnership allows us to target international travellers. As well as our cycling, hiking and paddle trips we offer them and locals some really quirky trips, such as our Bike to Seaweed Baths Tour, which features Voya Seaweed Baths in Strandhill, and our Pedal to Paddle trip, our Star-B-Q, Free diving, and Night Biking. This is huge boost for us after our busiest season yet. It isn’t just a win for us but also our adventure playground that is Sligo."

This award is international recognition that Sligo is a gem full of quirky and cool things to do all year round. Sligo really has it all from great places to eat and stay to world-class adventures in the most stunning locations on the Wild Atlantic Way.

This award proves that Sligo really is Ireland’s Adventure Capital.
