'Significant risks' at nine disabled residential centres says HIQA

Hiqa says it has found "significant risks" to the health, safety and wellbeing of residents in nine residential services for disabled people around the country.

The claims have been highlighted among 20 reports on centres provided by the HSE, which have been published today.

At one respite service in the northwest of the country, inspectors identified "significant safeguarding concerns".

They found that allegations of abuse had not been appropriately reported or investigated, which meant vulnerable residents were not being adequately protected
