Canadian crash leaves two men from Cork dead

Two men from Cork have died after their car overturned on a road in central Canada.

The Winnipeg Sun reported on its website that Westman Royal Canadian Mounted Police found the men, aged 33 and 42, in the car on Provincial Road 445 near Melita in Manitoba on Saturday morning.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The men have been named as Cathal Murphy from Bandon and Raymond McCann from Kanturk.

In a statement issued through the Department of Foreign Affairs, the families of both men expressed gratitude for all the support shown to them and also appealed for privacy.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is providing consular assistance to both families.
