McLoughlin's anti-fracking Bill picked for second stage

A Bill from Sligo/Leitrim TD Tony McLoughlin proposing a ban on fracking in Ireland has been picked to go to second stage in the Dáil next week.

The bill proposes to prohibit the exploration and extraction of oil and gas on land and in Ireland’s internal waters.

The legislation was previously brought forward as a private members bill by Deputy McLoughlin who stressed the importance of adhering to our commitments toward measures to combat climate change.

Deputy McLoughlin says he’s delighted his bill has been picked to move forward, and he will be looking for the cross-party support of all TD’s on the issue.

He told Shannonside FM that the Bill comes before the Dáil on Thursday 27 October.
