FOUR CENTRES in Sligo are chasing funds from the new towns and villages renewal scheme.
A decision is expected by the end of this month on successful applicants.
Minister Heather Humphreys told the Dail on Thursday that 172 applications from across the country are currently being assessed within her Department.

Local councils were asked to shortlist up to eight local proposals when the scheme was announced in August, said the Minister.
This, she added, was done ''done in consultation with local communities and businesses.''
Project costs in the various towns and villages will be eligible to attract up to 380,000 in grant support.
"The minimum grant payable is 20,000; the maximum grant is 100,000,'' Minister Humpheys explained on Thursday.
She was responding to several queries raised. by Sligo TD Tony McLoughlin.
The month is already ending on a high for Deputy McLoughlin, first elected to the Dail in February 2011.
