Latest Sligo Road and Traffic Report

MAJOR WORKS:

SLIGO AREA:

    As part of the OConnell Street Watermain and Sewer Rehabilitation Works being undertaken by Irish Water, OConnell Street remains closed to vehicular traffic from Monday September 5th until Wednesday November 30th.  A traffic management plan will be in place for the duration of the works which will include facilitating deliveries between 8am and 12noon Monday to Saturday.  Diversions will be in place via Lower John Street, Adelaide Street and Wine Street.

NORTH SLIGO

    Essential repair works are being carried out on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland at Castlegal Bridge, Glencar on the N16 National Primary Road.  Traffic Management will be in place with delays expected.  Works are expected to last for several weeks.

COUNTY WIDE

    A Japanese Knotweed eradication programme is being undertaken on the N4, N15, N16, N17 and N59 National Routes. The programme is expected to conclude on Friday 28th October, 2016. Temporary Traffic Management Plans will be in place from time to time on the various routes outlined.

ENNISCRONE:

    Accommodation, surveying and associated demobilisation works associated with the completion of the N17 Realignment Thornhill Bridge & Cloonacurra Overlay Contract 2015 will continue on the N17 National Primary Road between Ballynacarrow North and Cloonacurra townland. Traffic Management will be in place on days when works are ongoing, with minor delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 2 weeks. 

    Road and ground investigation works will continue on the N59 National Secondary Road between Carigeens townland and Camcuill townland.  Traffic Management will be in place with major delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 1 week. 

    Works continue on the N59 Pavement Overlay Scheme between the village of Dromore West and the townland of Templeboy. Traffic Management will be in place with delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 1 week.


TUBBERCURRY AREA:

Major Works:

    Footpath construction works will continue along the N17 at Gallagher Terrace, Tubbercurry.  Traffic control will be in operation with minor delays expected. Works are expected to last 1 week.

    Pipelaying works will continue next week on the Regional Road R294 in the Killavil area and works will commence on the L4301.  Traffic Management will be in place and delays can be expected. It is anticipated that the works on the R294 will be completed this week.

BALLYMOTE AREA:


    Road L 5403 closed at Cams Bridge, (approximately 150m from the Cams /Kilmorgan crossroad) for the next four weeks due to urgent bridge repair works.  Alternative route via L5402 and N4 to Ardloy /L5403 junction. Traffic Management will be in place.

    Pipelaying works continuing along a 400m stretch of the Castlebaldwin Road leading out of Ballymote and along a 4km stretch of the R295 from Ballymote towards Boyle. Traffic Management is in place and minor delays are expected. It is anticipated that all works will be completed by mid November, 2016.


ROAD SIGNAGE WORKS:

    Works will also continue on The R297 and R298 between Dromore West and Enniscrone

    Location of KN gangs - gangs will be in the Pearse Road and Devins Drive.


MINOR WORKS:

SLIGO CITY AREA:

    Hoarding has been erected at the corner of Lord Edward Street and Union Street. Provision has been made for pedestrian access and works are expected to last several weeks.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

    An MEWP licence has been granted for works at the east end of Rockwood Parade. Works will take place on Sunday 23rd and Sunday 30th October, 2016. The associated traffic management plan will divert local traffic to use an alternative route.

    Ongoing Road Openings to take place at various locations over the coming weeks due to broadband upgrade.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.


ENNISCRONE AREA:

    Drainage works will be carried out in Carrowteane/Derk commencing on Monday 24th October. Traffic lights will be in operation. Minor delays expected.

    Drainage works will be carried out in Pullaheeney.  A temporary road closure will be in place. Diversions via Rathlee.

    Wall repairs will be carried out on the Cliff Rd Enniscrone, a temporary road closure will be in place with diversions via Pier Rd.

    Bridge repairs will be carried out in Grangemore, Templeboy, a temporary road closure will be in place, local access will be provided.

    Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

TUBBERCURRY AREA:

    Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

BALLYMOTE AREA:

    Pothole repair works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
