Man dies following assault in Dublin

A man in his 20s has died following an assault in the Clondalkin area of Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

RTÉ reports that the incident occurred at Liscarne Gardens at approximately 3.10am.

The man is believed to have been in the vicinity of a bonfire at St Marks and was chased by a number of people across the Neilstown Road into Liscarne Gardens where he was fatally injured.

There have been no arrests.

The State Pathologist's Office has been contacted.

The body remains at the scene.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the general area of St Marks/Neilstown Road/Liscarne Gardens between 1am and 3.30am to contact them at Ronanstown Garda Station on 01-666-77-00, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
