Latest Sligo Road and Traffic Report

MAJOR WORKS:

SLIGO AREA:

As part of the O’Connell Street Watermain and Sewer Rehabilitation Works being undertaken by Irish Water, O’Connell Street remains closed to vehicular traffic from Monday September 5th until Wednesday November 30th.  A traffic management plan will be in place for the duration of the works which will include facilitating deliveries between 8am and 12noon Monday to Saturday.  Diversions will be in place via Lower John Street, Adelaide Street and Wine Street.

NORTH SLIGO

Essential repair works are being carried out on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland at Castlegal Bridge, Glencar on the N16 National Primary Road.  Traffic Management will be in place with delays expected.  Works are expected to last for several weeks.

ENNISCRONE:

Accommodation, surveying and associated demobilisation works associated with the completion of the N17 Realignment Thornhill Bridge & Cloonacurra Overlay Contract 2015 will continue on the N17 National Primary Road between Ballynacarrow North and Cloonacurra townland. Traffic Management will be in place on days when works are ongoing, with minor delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 2 weeks. 

Road and ground investigation works will continue on the N59 National Secondary Road between Carigeens townland and Camcuill townland.  Traffic Management will be in place with major delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 1 week. 

Works continue on the N59 Pavement Overlay Scheme between the village of Dromore West and the townland of Templeboy. Traffic Management will be in place with delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 1 week.

TUBBERCURRY AREA:

Major Works:

Footpath construction works will commence along the N17 at Circular Road, Tubbercurry.  Traffic control will be in operation with minor delays expected. Works are expected to last 1 week.

Pipelaying works will continue next week on Local Roads in the Killavil area.  Traffic Management will be in place and minor delays can be expected. It is anticipated that these works will be completed in 3 weeks.

BALLYMOTE AREA:

Road resurfacing works will be carried out on the R284 at Ballydawley commencing on Tuesday 1st Nov. The road will be closed to all vehicular traffic from a point 1.3km north west of its junction with Local Road L-3605 to its junction with Local Road L-3604.

The alternative route for Sligo bound traffic will be via the R290 (Ballygawley to Collooney) and N4 to Sligo. The alternative route for Keadue bound traffic will be via the  L-3608 (old N4), N4 and R290 (Collooney to Ballygawley).  The period of proposed closure will be Tuesday, 1st to Thursday, 3rd November, 2016 inclusive with closure times from 8am to 6pm.

Surface Drainage works will commence on L-1303 at Coola. Traffic control will be in place. A section of the works will involve crossing the R284 at Coola Crossroads where a four way stop/go will be in place. Works are expected to last two weeks.

Road L 5403 closed at Cams Bridge, (approximately 150m from the Cams /Kilmorgan crossroad) for the next four weeks due to urgent bridge repair works.  Alternative route via L5402 and N4 to Ardloy /L5403 junction. Traffic Management will be in place.

Pipelaying works continuing along a 400m stretch of the Castlebaldwin Road leading out of Ballymote and along a 4km stretch of the R295 from Ballymote towards Boyle. Traffic Management is in place and minor delays are expected. It is anticipated that all works will be completed by mid November, 2016.

ROAD SIGNAGE WORKS:

Works will also continue on The R297 and R298 between Dromore West and Enniscrone

Location of KN gangs - gangs will be in the Pearse Road and Devins Drive.


MINOR WORKS:

SLIGO CITY AREA:

Hoarding has been erected at the corner of Lord Edward Street and Union Street. Provision has been made for pedestrian access and works are expected to last several weeks.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

As part of the upgrade works on Markievicz Road, ESB will remove existing ESB poles and associated network wires on Wednesday 2nd November.  Traffic management will be in operation for the duration of the works.

Ongoing Road Openings to take place at various locations over the coming weeks due to broadband upgrade.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.


ENNISCRONE AREA:

Drainage works will be carried out in Carrowteane/Derk commencing on Monday 24th October. Traffic lights will be in operation. Minor delays expected.

Drainage works will be carried out in Pullaheeney.  A temporary road closure will be in place. Diversions via Rathlee.

Wall repairs will be carried out on the Cliff Rd Enniscrone, a temporary road closure will be in place with diversions via Pier Rd.

Bridge repairs will be carried out in Grangemore, Templeboy, a temporary road closure will be in place, local access will be provided.

Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

TUBBERCURRY AREA:

Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

BALLYMOTE AREA:


Footpath works will commence in Ballymote adjacent to Local Rd L-1502 from the Art Deco to Coláiste Mhuire. Traffic control will be in operation with minimal delays expected. Works are expected to last two weeks.

Pothole repair works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
