Sligo Road and Traffic Report - 14 November

UPDATE :: Monday 11.30am

Sligo County Council has been advised that, due to a major burst at the junction of the Ballytivnan Road and Duck Street, Sligo, emergency leak repairs will take place from 8am – 8pm tomorrow, Tuesday 15th November.

Road users are advised that access to the Ballytivnan Road from the N16 will be temporarily closed for the duration of the works.

Diversions will be in place.

Sligo County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.

MAJOR WORKS:


SLIGO AREA:

As part of the O’Connell Street Watermain and Sewer Rehabilitation Works being undertaken by Irish Water, O’Connell Street remains closed to vehicular traffic from Monday, September 5th until Wednesday, November 30th. 

A traffic management plan will be in place for the duration of the works which will include facilitating deliveries between 8 a.m. and 12 noon, Monday to Saturday.  Diversions will be in place via Lower John Street, Adelaide Street and Wine Street.

NORTH SLIGO

Essential repair works are being carried out on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland at Castlegal Bridge, Glencar on the N16 National Primary Road.  Traffic Management will be in place with delays expected.  Works are expected to last for several weeks.

ENNISCRONE:

Accommodation, surveying and associated demobilisation works associated with the completion of the N17 Realignment Thornhill Bridge & Cloonacurra Overlay Contract 2015 will continue on the N17 National Primary Road between Ballynacarrow North and Cloonacurra townland. Traffic Management will be in place on days when works are ongoing, with minor delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 2 weeks. 

Works continue on the N59 Pavement Overlay Scheme between the village of Dromore West and the townland of Templeboy. Traffic Management will be in place with delays expected.  Works are expected to last for 1 further week.

TUBBERCURRY AREA:

Footpath construction works will commence along the N17 at Circular Road, Tubbercurry. Traffic control will be in operation with minor delays expected. Works are expected to last 1 week.

Pipelaying works will continue next week on Local Road L4301 in the Killavil area.  There will also be some works on the R294.  Traffic Management will be in place and minor delays can be expected. It is anticipated that these works will be completed in 3 weeks.

BALLYMOTE AREA:

Drainage Investigation works will commence along the N59 National Secondary Road at Ballisodare Village on Monday 14th November from the mini roundabout to the entrance to Knockmuldowney Park.  Traffic control will be in operation with major delays expected.  Works are expected to last 2 days.

Surface Drainage works will continue on L-1303 at Coola. Traffic control will be in place. A section of the works will involve crossing the R284 at Coola Crossroads where a four way stop/go will be in place. Works are expected to last one week.

The cleaning of surface water inlets and drains will commence on the N17 from the Toberbride Roundabout to its junction with the R293 and on the N4 at Cloonamahnon and from Castlebaldwin to Ballinafad. Sections of the Hard Shoulder will be closed where work is taking place. Works are expected to last 3 weeks.

Road L 5403 closed at Cams Bridge, (approximately 150m from the Cams/Kilmorgan crossroad) for the next four weeks due to urgent bridge repair works.  Alternative route via L5402 and N4 to Ardloy /L5403 junction. Traffic Management will be in place.

Pipelaying works continuing along a 400m stretch of the Castlebaldwin Road leading out of Ballymote and along a 4km stretch of the R295 from Ballymote towards Boyle. Traffic Management is in place and minor delays are expected. It is anticipated that all works will be completed by mid November, 2016.

ROAD SIGNAGE WORKS:

Works will also continue on The R297 and R298 between Dromore West and Enniscrone

Location of KN gangs - gangs will be in the Pearse Road and Devins Drive.

MINOR WORKS:

SLIGO CITY AREA:

Hoarding has been erected at the corner of Lord Edward Street and Union Street. Provision has been made for pedestrian access and works are expected to last several weeks.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

A Scaffolding licence has been granted for 6 Union Street, Sligo. Works are expected to last 2 weeks. Minimal traffic disruption expected.

Ongoing Road Openings to take place at various locations over the coming weeks due to broadband upgrade.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

ENNISCRONE AREA:

Drainage works will continue in Carrowteane/Derk .  Traffic lights will be in operation. Minor delays expected.

Drainage works will continue in Pullaheeney.  A temporary road closure will be in place. Diversions via Rathlee.

Wall repairs will continue on the Cliff Rd Enniscrone.  A Temporary road closure will be in place.  Diversions via Pier Rd.

Bridge repairs will continue in Grangemore, Templeboy, a temporary road closure will be in place, local access will be provided.

Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

TUBBERCURRY AREA:

Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

BALLYMOTE AREA:

Footpath works will continue in Ballymote adjacent to Local Rd L-1502 from the Art Deco to Coláiste Mhuire. Traffic control will be in operation with minimal delays expected. Works are expected to last one week.
