Wintry weather conditions for Sligo and Northwest

Wintry weather is affecting road conditions around Sligo and the North West with snow showers forecast.

Met Éireann has warned of falling temperatures over the next few days after some sleet and snow showers fell yesterday.

There was further wintry showers last night amd in the coming days.

Temperatures over the coming days will be 0C to 3C with frost and icy stretches.

The AA's Adrian Harmon is advising road users to be prepared.

He said: "Met Éireann has forecast a drop in termperatures over the coming days. Widespread frost and ice is likely.

"At the moment we are experiencing intermittent sleet and snow showers around the country, particularly in parts of the Midlands. This can lead to reduced visibility and slippery surfaces.

"Bear that in mind if you're on the roads today."

The weekend is looking cold - very cold at nighttime - but it will at least be dry.
