€72,000 funding for Sligo and Leitrim groups

An allocation of over €72,000 for Sligo and Leitrim groups and organisations by the Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, under the Department of Health National Lottery funding scheme for 2016 has been announced.

The funding was welcomed by Fine Gael TD for Sligo – Leitrim, Tony, McLoughlin.

“The Department of Health has a National Lottery Discretionary fund which provides once-off grants to community groups and voluntary organisations nationally. In Co. Sligo three organisations and groups will receive €42,684, which will go towards a range of very worthwhile projects, whilst in Co. Leitrim, €29,500 has been allocated to three groups.  

“The National Lottery Grants provide vital funding to extremely worthwhile groups and organisations that do very good work in Co. Sligo and Co. Leitrim. I would like to congratulate those who were successful in securing funding and encourage other organisations to consider applying for this once off grant in 2017.”

The allocations are as follows;
Acquired Brain Injury Ireland Sligo  €20,000 To provide a wheelchair accessible vehicle.       
St Angela's College Sligo €10,950  To provide healthy eating workshops.       
The CRIB, Foroige €11,734  to upgrade the kitchen and equipment.       
Total     €42,684          
South Leitrim Neighbourhood Youth Project (Foroige)€1,500 to supply classroom equipment       
Rossinver Community Development Company €8,000 to refurbish a premises.       
Irish Wheelchair Association Carrick on Shannon €20,000 to purchase a new bus.
Total     € 29,500
