Sligo University Hospital recently held a Bereavement Awareness / End of Life Care day at the hospital. The purpose of the day was to create a higher consciousness around Bereavement and End of Life Care.
There was several voluntary bereavement agencies in attendance who delivered information about their services to the general public and hospital staff, and video presentations covering the principals of ‘Breaking Bad News ‘and ‘What one would wish for at the end of life’.
Ann Hayes, Development Co-ordinator End of Life Care, Sligo University Hospital said, “The event was a great success with very positive feedback received. It links voluntary agencies to the hospital and creates an awareness of the supports that are available for people at a most difficult time in their lives".
