A man has died and three others injured in a two car collision which occurred on the N72 Fermoy to Ballyhooely Road at 8am this morning.
The man who died was in his early 20's and was the only occupant of one of the cars.
The driver and two passengers of the 4x4 vehicle have been taken to Cork University Hospital.
The scene has been preserved and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are on the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Gardaí at Fermoy station on 025-82100 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111.
Meanwhile gardaí were last night working to identify three men who died when their car burst into flames following a two-vehicle collision in Waterford yesterday.
The car in which the men were travelling collided with a people carrier at around 10am.
The collision took place on the N72 Dungarvan-Lismore road between the junctions with the N25 and the R672, north of Dungarvan.
The bodies of the men who died were removed to University Hospital Waterford for postmortem examinations.
A full examination of the car in which the deceased were travelling was delayed due to the extent of the damage, gardaí confirmed.
The road was closed overnight, with diversions put in place.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses, who may have travelled this stretch of road and can assist with their investigation, to contact Dungarvan Garda Station (058-48600) or any Garda station.
