Graduates of select Georgian College programs will have an opportunity to earn a degree from Ireland’s Institute of Technology, Sligo.
Under a new partnership between the college and IT Sligo, Canadian students enrolled in a range of diploma courses at Georgian College can go on to earn a related degree from the Irish institute.
“We are delighted to expand our extensive Colleges Ontario institutional partnerships to include Georgian College,” said Patrick Lynch, international manager at IT Sligo. “Our partnership provides flexible, full-credit transfer, degree-completion pathways (full-time and online) to diploma and advanced diploma students in a wide variety of subject areas.”
The partnership will bring valuable benefits to Georgian graduates, added Kevin Weaver, Georgian College vice-president, international, workforce development and partnerships.
“This agreement gives graduates of these Georgian programs opportunities to turn their diplomas into degrees in fields related to their studies,” Weaver said. “We are always pleased to find ways to help our students and graduates add value to their Georgian credentials and to accelerate their careers. IT Sligo is a valued partner and we look forward to working closely with them.”
The agreement will offer degree paths to Canadian students in programs that include: architectural technology to BSc (Hons) in construction project management; civil-engineering technology to BSc (Hons) in construction project management; environmental technician/technology to BSc in environmental protection or BSc in environmental science; and early-childhood education to BA (Hon) in early-childhood care and education.
Applicants can apply for admission to IT Sligo degree programs through KOM Consultants, IT Sligo’s Canadian representatives, based in Hamilton.
