Sligo gets extra CLÁR €100,000 funding

Fine Gael T.D. for Sligo Leitrim, Tony McLoughlin has welcomed the confirmation of a further €100,000 allocation for Co Sligo today, to go along with the €873,200 in funding received for Counties Sligo and Leitrim under the 2016 CLÁR programme.

“My colleague Michael Ring, the Minister of State for Regional Economic Development, has advised me today that an additional allocation of €100,000 in funding for the Development of a new cycle and pedestrian greenway facility which will link the Wild Atlantic Way villages between Ballisodare and Collooney has been sanctioned by his Department.

Under the scheme, with this additional project set to be now funded, Co. Sligo will get €698,400 in funding and Co. Leitrim will receive €274,800. This will make Co. Sligo one of the highest recipients of funding under this scheme in 2016. I want to thank Michael Ring for his efforts in assisting Co. Sligo in this scheme. Michael has always been very good to Co. Sligo as Minister, which dates back to when he was the Minister for State and the Department for Transport, Tourism and Sport.

This additional funding announcement today comes on the back of the of the €1.05 Million in REDZ funding announced for Sligo and Leitrim on Monday last. These recent funding announcements show that with a recovering economy under a Fine Gael Government, we can now start to invest in services and infrastructure throughout rural Ireland, which was impossible during the financial crisis.
