The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) will hold a vigil at Hyde Bridge, Sligo, this Saturday – today, New Year’s Eve at 2pm.
The event is one of many being organised in Ireland to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
According to a spokesperson, "2016 was an incredibly difficult year for Palestinians living under the occupation, and unfortunately things look set to only get worse in 2017 with the Trump administration’s accession to power in the United States.
"We promise to redouble our efforts to both raise awareness of the situation for Palestinians – in the occupied territories, inside Israel and in the refugee diaspora – and to continue to play our part in building the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign for freedom, justice and equality for the Palestinian people."
