The latest ‘Irish Businesses Against Litter’ (IBAL) survey released show a marked improvement in Sligo and shows that the town has risen seven places to twenty-second in the Litter League Table.
Eight out of ten sites inspected in Sligo are 'Clean to European norms'.
Conor Horgan of IBAL says they visit different areas everytime the survey is carried out and confirms Sligo is improving all the time.
At one time Sligo was one of the towns at the bottom of the table.
The Chairman of Sligo Tidy Towns has welcomed the recent IBAL litter results for Sligo Town.
Peter Tiernan told Sligo Today
that the score of 22, up 7 from 2016 was a "tribute to local business owners and the Local Authority, who kept the town clean during the bad weather.
"The results should improve still further when the Tidy Towns team re-commence their litter picking of public areas as the weather improves."
