One of Sligo's best known lunch venues has closed it's doors for the last time.
Diners were shocked yesterday to find that A Casa Mia, the cornerstone of Sligo's Italian Quarter, was closed with all its principal signage removed.
Gone also is the popular covered outdoor dining area.
A Casa Mia, owned by Pat Grimes who is also the proprietor of the nearby Bistro Bianconi, received international publicity in 2012 when the acclaimed movie Calvary
, starring Brendan Gleeson and Kelly Reilly, was transformed into a set for several scenes.
Gleeson's son Domhnall Gleeson along with Aidan Gillen, Pat Shortt, David McSavage, Chris O'Dowd, Dylan Moran and David Wilmott were regulars at the cafe during the filming. A notice on the door yesterday thanked customers for their five years of loyal custom
