St Patrick Day Committee and Sligo BID join forces

Sligo St Patrick’s Day Parade committee and Sligo BID have announced the formation of a new joint parade working group.

At a recently held meeting, Chairperson of the existing committee, Mr.Tom MacSharry recounted the history of the parade that has entertained locals since 1971 and thanked all the volunteers and sponsors that supported the event over the last 47 years.

Graciously stepping down, Mr MacSharry passed the baton to incoming Chairperson Finbarr Filan.

Mr Filan in his comments to the group stressed the need to maintain the standard of the parade and asked for recognition for all who volunteered in assisting the parade committee year after year.

Having gained new insight into the amount of effort, time, energy and enthusiasm that is involved in organising the parade every year, Mr Filan said ‘We have a legacy to protect and a high standard to maintain and I am very pleased to see the level of enthusiasm and partnership at tonight's meeting.  We look forward to delivering a fun family event for Sligo town this year.’
