Annual Commemoration of the death of W.B. Yeats’ at Drumcliffe
On Saturday, 28 January, the 78th anniversary of the death of the poet in France in 1939, the life and work of William Butler Yeats will be commemorated in Drumcliffe Church, Drumcliffe, County Sligo, in the graveyard of which his final resting place is located, ‘under bare Ben Bulben’s head’.
Starting at 5pm, locals and visitors will gather again this year to remember the poet through his work.
The short event will feature readings and musical adaptations of Yeats’ poetical works by residents of the Drumcliffe/ North Sligo area including local poets Nora McGillen, Eilo Molloy, Patricia Cunningham and others.
Organised by the Cos Cos Festival in partnership with Drumcliffe Rathcormac Tidy Towns committee and Drumcliffe Church of Ireland parish, the event is open to the general public free of charge.
