THE NEWEST millionaire -- or millionaires -- in Ireland woke up 88.5 million richer this Wednesday.
The National Lottery confirmed circa 9pm last night that Ireland had sold the only winning ticket in the Europe-wide bonanza.
Eleven punters across the Continent were just one Lucky Star short of the agin combination and get over 96,000 each.
Twenty five other punters matched the first five numbers drawn but failed to click with the Lucky Stars.
They get just over 9,800; none of those three dozen 'near misses' were sold in Ireland, the National Lottery has confirmed.
The winning numbers drawn last night were: 1, 5, 7, 17 and 23 plus the Lucky Stars of 3 and 8.
The National Lottery may confirm the exact location of the winning ticket purchase later.
The winner joins an elite list of nine other Irish winners that began in 2005 with Limerick woman Dolores McNamara, who still holds the record for the largest Irish win of 115m.
Ms McNamara from Co Limerick won the competitions 12th highest jackpot ever when she scored a 115,436,126 jackpot in July 2005.
EuroMillions is played in nine countries - Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, France and the UK.
