Mixed League Competition Final Change of Date
Due to a prior booking on March 5th for the ILGU Junior Development, we have had to push the final of the Mixed League out to Sunday March 12th 2017. This is to facilitate a shotgun start and to ensure that the social aspect of the competition is preserved.
The final will get underway at 10:30am on March 12th under a shotgun start and will be played over 18 holes.
There will be an A and B final on the day. The top two from each of the groups will advance to the A final while the remaining two in each group will advance to the B final.
We are also delighted to announce that we have secured Pet Stop Discount Warehouse as a sponsor for the competition.
There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the A final and 1st and 2nd in the B final as well as numerous other prizes on the day.
Winter Fairway Mats 2017
With effect from Friday 20th January a requirement to play from fairway mats will come into operation at Strandhill Golf Club.
With temperatures providing little growth during the winter months these mats will help protect the turf from divot damage which would otherwise take until the summer to repair.
They are carried by the golfer and if the ball lies on the fairway. The mat is positioned as near as possible to where it lies. The ball is then placed on and played from the mat.
Please refer to the Local Rule displayed on clubhouse notice boards.
* Balls may be played with a putter from off the green without a mat.
* Balls must be placed centrally on the mat.
* Players must not attempt to gain an advantage by playing the ball from the back edge of the mat.
* All members and visitors must use a mat when playing the course while this policy is in force.
* On all other areas of the course the ball is played as it lies.
Mats are available for purchase from the golf shop.
