Palestinian Student Malaka Shwaikh will be speaking this Saturday at 2pm at the Sligo City Hotel
in a public meeting organised by United Against Racism Sligo.
Malaka, who hails from Shijaia, Eastern Gaza is a campaigner for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) and a PhD student in the University of Exeter.
Malaka will discuss her experiences as a student coming from Gaza, and the importance of BDS - a peaceful civil society campaign that aims to exert economic and social pressure on Israel to conform to international law, which it habitually ignores.
This promises to be a very interesting and informative meeting for anyone who wants to see the ending of human rights abuses and gain more awareness of the difficulties faced by those in Gaza, and the wider Palestine. It is a free event and all are welcome.
