Irish woman for Australian murder trial

A Wexford woman will appear in an Australian court on Wednesday charged with murdering her fiance.

It is alleged Tina Cahill, 25, stabbed builder David Walsh, 29, from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, in the neck outside his Sydney, Australia home shortly after midnight local time on Friday.

After reports of a fight between several people, local police and ambulance services were called to the scene.

Paramedics found the father-of-three David, known as ‘Motcha’, bleeding severely from his neck and mouth.

Neighbours said they heard glass breaking and people screaming before emergency services arrived.

New South Wales paramedics tried to revive Wexford man David but he died at the scene.

A New South Wales police spokesman said : "The woman, who is an Irish national, was charged with murder.

It was reported locally that Tina had been out with friends and returned with them and a 36-year-old man they had met, when a fight broke out.

The man was also arrested on Friday night, but has since been released without charge.
