Last evening Friday evening (4 February), the Stroll at the Track
committee presented a cheque to North West Hospice following its hugely successful fundraiser.
A €27,000 cheque was presented to Cathryn O'Leary, Community Relations Manager; North West Hospice.
Speaking following the cheque presentation Cathryn spoke of the "huge work of the committee over the past number of weeks. She stated the Hospice would not survive without the incredible volunteers out there and we are deeply thankful. This was a tremendous event and we owe it all to you ".
At the presentation the chairman of Stroll at the Track,
Vincent Murray thanked all the sponsors, stewards, musicians, gate collectors and the management and board of Sligo Racecourse for their support of the event.
"Each and everyone of the 3,500 people who came through that racecourse gate experienced a fantastic family day but a day of huge emotion and meaning. This figure we are presenting to Hospice today typifies that. As we speak I have just received more donations tonight."
