Woman and children die in overnight Dublin apartment fire

A woman and two young children have died in a fire in an apartment in Condalkin, Dublin.

Emergency services attended the scene of the fire at Cluainin Cronan, Clondalkin at about 2.30am.

RTÉ reports that five people were in the apartment at the time of the fire.

A 27-year-old woman and two girls, aged two and three, were taken to Tallaght Hospital, where they were pronounced dead a short time later.

A woman in her 30s was taken to St James's Hospital, while a four-year-old boy was taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Crumlin.

Both are said to be in critical condition.

Separately, four people were injured and several others were rescued following a fire at an apartment in Dominic Street in Dublin.

Three of the four were treated for smoke inhalation. The fire broke out around 3am.

Four units of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene of the fire, which has now been brought under control.
