Gardaí are investigating the theft of a fire engine worth over €400,000 from Donegal.
The vehicle was taken from the Stranorlar Fire Station on Sunday. It was found in the Killygordon area of Donegal just one kilometre from the border.
Thousands of euro worth of gear was taken from the fire engine. The equipment would be used by fire officers during road traffic crashes.
Inspector Goretti Sheridan of Letterkenny garda station told Highland News
that gardaí are appealing for any information which can help catch those behind the “heinous crime”.
“The fire engine stolen was from Stranorlar overnight and was subsequently located at 8.45am just up from Killygordon at a forestry entrance. Technical examinations have been carried out. Gardaí are looking for CCTV to track its movements.
“It’s a heinous crime and we want to track these people down.”
