JULY WILL be D-Day for a final decision on whether Lidl can open a second local store.
Bord Pleanala, the statutory appeals agency, has indicated July 31st next as the likely date for its decision.
This follows a recent appeal received from Cathal McGuinnesss, who cited a number of appeal grounds.
He is opposed to the new ''freestanding foodstore'' which the multinational wants at Finisklin. See link below
The site of the proposed development is 'bounded by'' Lyons Terrace, Finisklin Road and Union Place, states Bord Pleanala.
The supermarket chain also plan to offer a restaurant and office space.
The company's second Sligo site is a converted mill with associated public space.
That is according to applicants on behalf of Lidl, namely Church Road Development Ltd.
Registered offices of that company are in Tallaght, west Dublin, according to the Companies Registration Office (CRO) online.
