GRANTS UP 60,000 or 70,000 on average could be on offer to Sligo towns and villages in the latest renewal scheme.
Heather Humphries expects up to 300 centres across the country to avail
of the 20 million package she unveiled last month.
Sligo TD Tony McLoughlin was told in the Dáil that applications will close at the end of June for the extended grants package.
Projects likely to be funded will have ''clear positive economic impacts on their town or village,'' the Minister indicated.
welcome, said Minister Humphries, will be projects ''which stimulate
economic activity'' between a town or village and its neighbouring
includes projects ''which demonstrate leveraging of, or linkages with,
other schemes operated by Government Departments or agencies.''
of interest, suggested the Minister, will be heritage, arts, culture,
tourism, tidy towns, recreational facilities, re-use of vacant premises,
vacant sites and energy efficiency schemes.
