An investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding the violent death of a child in Dublin.RTÉ
reports that a three-year-old boy was found stabbed at an apartment in Poddle Park in Kimmage yesterday evening.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His mother, who is in her 40s and believed to be originally from the Middle East, was taken to St James's Hospital in Dublin with serious injuries.
The little boy’s body was found at around 7pm yesterday after gardaí were called to the Riverside Apartments.
The scene at the one-bedroom apartment has been preserved pending the arrival of the Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist later this morning.
An incident room has been set up in Crumlin and gardaí are conducting inquiries in the area.
They have appealed to neighbours or anyone with information to contact them.
Gardaí have identified the boy but are still trying to contact all family members.
