The Sligo bound train was forced to halt as emergency services dealt with a “tragic” incident yesterday evening.The 19.05 Dublin Connolly to Sligo train was stopped in Westmeath, near Mullingar, for over 90 minutes.
They tweeted an update at 9.40 to say the service was still stopped.
It read: “Connolly Sligo remains stopped near Mullingar as emergency services deal with incident on the line, No other services impacted.”But after 10.30 it was confirmed the service has finally resumed.
They said: “Connolly Sligo has departed The scene outside Mullingar 90mins late. No other service impact.”In a reply to one commuter they said: “Emergency services are dealing with a tragic incident.”
A garda spokesman confirmed there was an incident but has no further details yet.
