Sligo Rovers lotto, relegation deepens

JOE MOLLOY sold the winning ticket for the 200 Tesco voucher in Sligo Rovers weekly lotto draw last night, Monday.

The ticket was held by Patrick and Kathleen McGowan.

Winning foursome was 4, 6, 12, 20 and there was no claim on four correct numbers for a jackpot offering 4,400.

Next Monday's big prize bonanza will be 4,700 for an all-correct forecast.

Shared Equally

The top prize will be shared equally if there is more than one claimant with four numbers.

Meanwhile, results on the field last night dumped Sligo Rovers deeper into the drop zone.

Fellow strugglers St Patrick's Athletic beat Shamrock Rovers 2-0 to climb away from the relegation zone.

Sligo Rovers now hold 10th spot (automatic relegation) with four games to go, all to be played in October.

The Bit o' Red face Bohemian and Derry City at home, with away trips to Shamrock Rovers and Drogheda United.

The situation at the foot of the table has lapsed into a classic dogfight, with clubs biting the tail off each other to survive.

More Goals

Sligo Rovers crux is deepened by the fact that their goal difference is worse than Galway United, St Pats or Limerick.

Those are the only three clubs now whom Rovers could 'drag' into the relegation den to swap spots.

All three have also scored significantly more goals than Sligo in the 2017 season in the SSE Airtricity League.
