Shaun Purcell (Chief Executive) announced today that the process of developing the Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB Strategic Plan for the period 2017-2022 has commenced. Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB is committed to supporting people live and work in the west of Ireland and the Strategic Statement for 2017-2022 will strengthen MSLETB’s resolve to achieve this objective. The output from the process will be a Strategic Statement 2017-2022. This dynamic document will set out the direction for Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB over the next 5 years.
Building on the work earlier this year of developing the core values for Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB, in which all colleagues were given the opportunity to contribute, the Strategic Statement will outline the vision, mission and dynamic goals of Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB as a new organisation with statutory responsibility for education and training supports and services in the three counties of Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim.
Shaun Purcell will lead a Strategic Planning Steering Committee (SPSC) to oversee the development of the Plan. Shaun along with the 3 Directors – Mary Madden (Director of Schools), Tom Grady (Director of Organisational Support and Development) and Peter Egan (Director of Further Education and Training) will ultimately will be tasked with leading the implementation of the Plan, as well as important external stakeholders, board members, colleagues, students and learners from the community. The development of the Plan is being facilitated by Rosemary Ryan of Irish Public Bodies.Experiences
Through the development of the Strategic Statement, MSLETB is committed to working with partners and stakeholders over the next five years to improve the delivery of education and training services for young people and adults in Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim. Key to all the goals set out in this Strategy Statement is that the quality of learning experiences for all learners will continuously improve over the coming five years.
Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB will progress towards maturing as a living, learning organisation which will lead and respond effectively to ever-changing emerging needs locally, nationally and internationally. Specifically, the aim of the plan is Innovative high-quality Education and Further Education and Training services and programmes that provides students and learners with transformative opportunities for life and living in the west of Ireland. The Plan will underpin the generic strategies, policies and quality assurance of Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB’s education and training provision.
Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB have set an ambitious schedule for this process. The intention is to have a completed and already well-vetted Plan submitted to the Board of Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB for final discussion and endorsement at its meeting in early 2018. Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB is looking forward to engaging with colleagues and stakeholders to develop the plan over the coming months.
