Coney Island body confirmed as missing Sligo woman

Gardaí have confirmed that the body found off Coney Island on Sunday evening is that of missing Sligo woman Roisin Dolan.

Ms Dolan (34) had been missing for 12 days and was last seen on Wednesday 11 October at her home near Duncan's Island in Far Finisklin where she lived with her mother.

A massive search involving volunteers, Gardaí, Coast Guard, RNLI and Civil Defence had been ongoing for several days before her body was discovered by members of the public on Sunday at 5pm.

Her remains were removed to Sligo University Hospital on Monday where a post mortem was carried out and her identification confirmed.
The investigation into the tragic death is continuing but gardaí are understood not to be considering it as 'suspicious'.

In an interview last week the mother of the deceased Jean Dolan made an emotional appeal for the safe return of her daughter, a keen artist.

She confirmed that Roisin had been in her bed for the previous four, or five days, a week approximately and had not said anything, not eating, not talking, kind of like a 'zombie.' See link below.

During the extensive search the garda officer in charge Superintendent Mary Murray requested businesses in the Finisklin Business Park area to check their storage areas, warehouses, yards and outbuildings.

She’s also asked homeowners to check garden sheds, garages and gardens.

Ms Dolan is survived by her Mother and two sisters, Jessica and Mairin.
