Sligo 'meet and greet' with Leonie and Martina

Designer goldsmith Martina Hamilton, and garden designer, author and TV presenter Leonie Cornelius, are hosting a special event at The Cat and The Moon store, Castle Street this Saturday, 4 November from 12-4pm.

The two designers are inviting the public to a free event where they can view the newly-launched pieces of jewellery in Martina’s popular Shore Collection.

The new statement pieces in the Shore collection include necklaces, earrings, and a brooch in sterling silver with pearls featured. The newly-extended collection also features petite hallmarked yellow 9ct Gold items.

Visitors will get to enjoy “sweets and treats” and have an opportunity to meet and chat with both Martina and Leonie.

Guests will also be in with a chance to win one of ten stunning pieces of jewellery as well as one of ten copies of Leonie’s best-selling book, Dream Gardens.

On the day, Leonie and Martina are happy to chat about their passion for design, and share their inspiration with visitors.

The event is free and open to the public.

Martina recently selected Leonie to be her brand ambassador and the pair launched the new designs last week at Designyard’s international jewellery gallery in Dublin.

Martina and Leonie’s collaboration began earlier this year when Martina asked Leonie if she would model some pieces for her Shore Collection in a stunning seashore-themed photo shoot.

Martina Hamilton said, “I am thrilled to welcome Leonie as brand ambassador for Martina Hamilton jewellery. Leonie has been a friend for the past 20 years since she came to carry out work experience in The Cat and The Moon in Sligo. From the first day she worked in the shop, she really stood out. She had such a sense of glamour and confidence and a lovely sense of style. She worked with us during the summer and Christmas until she went to college and then her own career took off.”

Leonie Cornelius said, “When Martina asked me to collaborate with her as a brand ambassador, I was absolutely delighted. I have known Martina for a very long time and her designs, work and approach are such an inspiration to me as a designer and person. Her approach to everything she does is so unique and filled with personal stories, personal touches and real heart. I am honoured to call her a friend and proud to have been asked to represent this incredible Irish brand.”
