Following the extensive road works on the section of roadway last year locals expressed some concern about the drainage pipes running into a field soakpit. Sligo County Council will be ensuring that the pipes are now directed into a more permanent soakpit that cannot affect local properties.
“Last year the problem with surface water was addressed only as a temporary measure,” explained Cllr Healy.
“The soakpit will now be fully drained by an outfall pipe into a manhole. There will be some traffic disruption during these works for two to three days, I will be alerting residents to this in advance and monitoring the progress of the works.
When finished it should leave the road into Ballisadare safe and stable and will have averted future difficulties”.
