Sligo councillor elected to national body
Councillor Thomas Healy has
described his election to the national executive of the Association of Irish
Local Government (AILG) as “an honour and a great opportunity to represent Sligo and
the region nationally”.
The AILG is the representative body for Councillors
from throughout the state and formulates consensus policies and training
programmes for Councillors.
Cllr Healy is one of 12 Councillors elected
to the national body and has already attended a number of national meetings.
He said, “It was a great honour for me to be elected by the people of Sligo in 2014”, it is a different type of honour to be now representing my fellow Councillors interests nationally.
"I will be attending a meeting this week on an examination of the local government funding model and will be able to highlight Sligo and the regions interests in funding and housing.”
