got under way at the weekend for the next State Solicitor in Sligo.
Adverts placed by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) confirmed the post “will become vacant in the near future.”
A full time fixed term contract is likely to be offered to the new State solicitor.
The DPP advert online confirms that a contract for services could be offered for a period of up to ten years.
The closing date for applications has been fixed at 5pm on Friday December 8th next.
Hugh Sheridan, pictured, was first appointed Sligo State Solicitor in 1998 by the Attorney General after a public competition.
Then, in October 2012 Mr Sheridan was reappointed as State Solicitor, this time by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
