International Volunteering Opportunities Focus of November's Volunteer Voices

Volunteer Voices, the monthly meet-up for volunteers during Sligo's designation as European Volunteering Capital will this month focus on Opportunities in International Volunteering.

Taking place in the Sligo Southern Hotel on November 23rd, the event welcomes inspirational guest speaker Garda Ray Wims who travelled to Greece to help during the recent Syrian refugee crisis.

Up to 400 people were helped each night by the group of volunteers including Wims during his two-week stay.

Other speakers include Paula Naughton, Riadh Egan and Cathal O'Hara who will share their own personal stories of volunteering abroad helping humanitarian and environmental issues in other countries.

Opportunities about international volunteering will be shared as well as information available from development agencies who support volunteering efforts abroad.

Sligo is the designated European Volunteering Capital for 2017, following on from London and Lisbon.
