Sligo-based Collins McNicholas will this year donate its Christmas gift fund to The Simon Community to support efforts to improve the homeless issue.
Money budgeted for client Christmas gifts at the company’s Sligo offices was instead donated to the charity, which helps homeless people. And staff also decided to donate their annual internal Kris Kindle gifts to the local Simon community shop.
“In light of the homeless issue in the country at the moment, this Christmas Collins McNicholas HR & Recruitment Group have decided to donate our Christmas gift fund to The Simon Community nationally in support of their efforts to prevent the problem from worsening,” said Niall Murray, Collins McNicholas Managing Director.
“We believe that the homeless crisis in Ireland requires as much support as possible and therefore I hope that you can appreciate us putting the money behind this cause rather than on client gifts.”
Simon Community was one of Collins McNicholas’ Charity Partners in 2017 and the group has raised more than €2,250 to support their efforts. Cheques have recently been handed over to local Simon Community charity shops in Sligo, Athlone, Cork and Galway
Another Sligo company has also decided to donate customer gift fund to charity this year. Vendor Finance, an independent Asset Finance Broker, specialising in providing funding solutions for car and business finance is this year supporting the St.Vincent DePaul (VDP) society.
When asked by Cllr Marie Casserly to support her Christmas collection drive for the charity, the company decided to go one better and donate its gift fund to VDP who are in great need of extra funding at this time of the year.
