Sligo hospital to get 1.2m boiler upgrade

The HSE has allocated 1.2 million towards the upgrade of boiler facilities in Sligo University Hospital.

The executive has released its 2018 service plan, which shows 14.5 billion will be spent on healthcare next year, an increase of 608 million on 2017s.

The boiler plant and boiler room at Sligo hospital is to be upgraded, at a cost of 2.3 million, and almost half of that amount is allocated in the service plan.

The project is scheduled to be complete by next September.

A total of 3.5 million is being spent on building or purchasing 28 housing units for people who are transitioning from Cregg House and Cloonamahon in Sligo, which are facilities for people with intellectual disabilities.

500,000 in set aside in the service plan for the project, which is being completed on a phased basis over the course of 2018 and 2019.
