SLIGO ROVERS skipper for the SSE Airtricity League title win in 2012 said that being captain was his “best moment” in football.
Danny Ventre is now back in Liverpool but has spoken of his Irish career in a lengthy interview with website extratime.ie
Said Ventre: “I was extremely proud to captain the club, but skippering a side to the title was something else.
“We were top the whole season and every team raised their game, but we just saw them off and took one game at a time.
had a great blend of players and ages that season,” Ventre recalled of
the epic 2012 run to the premier title for the first time in 35 years.
Ventre also used yesterday’s interview to pay special tribute to Joseph Ndo.
Added Ventre: “We also had the most gifted footballer to ever grace the league, in Joseph Ndo.
“What an honour it was to play alongside him. His ability, experience and demanding of high standards made the team tick.”
