‘Quite severe’ conditions in missing man search

THE SEARCH for missing local Michael McGowan of Coney Island continued in the wake of Storm Eleanor yesterday, Wednesday.

Conditions were “quite severe in exposed locations,” said the Rosses Point Development Association in its online update.

Mr McGowan (43) has not been seen since last Friday, December 30th.

Hundreds of locals have assisted in searches of the north Sligo coast and on land over the past four days.

If anyone wants to join the island search today (Thursday 4th), they are asked to assemble at MJ Wards at 12:00 noon, said Rosses Point Development Association.

Meanwhile, various search parties will assemble at Harry’s Pub at 12noon to coordinate the search from there.

“Many thanks to all who are helping in any way,” said a spokesperson.
