Sligo coldest as Markree plummets to -11.25c

Met Éireann yesterday issued a weather alert - an Status Orange.

The warning was issued at 1pm yesterday, Sunday, with the low temperatures to remain in effect until 10am this morning,  Monday.

The alert follows a Status Yellow Low Temperature Warning with temperatures falling in Munster, Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal are worst affected and the warning stayed in effect until 12 noon Sunday.

Met Éireann also reported, by Tweet, see below, that the lowest recorded overnight temperature was in County Sligo yesterday morning as it passed -11c.
