Sligo Road and Traffic Report - 8 January



Sligo City Watermain Rehabilitation and Pearse Road Sewer Network Contract:

Pipelaying works currently ongoing along west side of Quay Street from the public car park area down towards the junction with Wine Street.  Two way traffic is expected to be maintained here. Works to switch to night works from Monday 8th January and pipe laying expected to be completed on the nights 8th or 9th January. 

Quay Street taxi rank has been temporarily relocated to Wine Street, pictured.
Pipelaying along Wine Street is to commence midweek following the completion of Quay Street pipelaying – generally between the Hours 7.00pm to 7.00am with a nightly road closure in place.
Pipelaying ongoing along Stephen St (at west end in vicinity of junction with Markievicz Road) and will proceed across Hyde Bridge towards Lower Knox Street, with one way traffic being maintained.
Preliminary investigative works for pipelaying (slit trenching and trial pit excavation) ongoing along Fatima Avenue.  Pipelaying along Fatima to commence this week with a road closure in place.
Installation of boundary boxes in footpaths are ongoing at in the Holborn Hill/Holborn Street areas and along Cemetery Road.
Traffic Management will be in place at all works locations with diversions clearly signed.  Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Holborn Hill/Ballytivnan AC Mains Replacement:

Pipe installation is ongoing from Ash Lane roundabout proceeding towards St John Hospital. Traffic Diversion will be in place for northbound traffic on the Ballytivnan Road while southbound lane will operate as normal. Traffic management will revert to a stop go system controlled by traffic lights towards end of the week with the removal of the division of northbound traffic. Some delays may be experienced.


Traffic management will continue to be in place on the N4 dual carriageway between Summerhill roundabout and Toberbride roundabout, Collooney from Monday 8th January to allow for maintenance works.   No delays are expected.


N15 Mullaghnaneane-Urlar Mains Replacement Works:

Works for new watermains pipelines will take place in the Cashelgarran and Urlar areas north of Drumcliffe. Works are substantially complete on Local Road No. L-7402-0 behind Henrys Bar & Restaurant in Cashelgarran. Pipe testing and reinstatement works are ongoing in Urlar on Local Road L-7308. Works on the N15 between Mullaghnaneane-Urlar to commence on 10th January. Traffic management will be in operation which may cause some delays.



A Scaffolding Licence has been granted for the corner of Church St/Harmony Hill.  No traffic delays are expected.

Thornhill Road/Knappagh Road:

Footpath construction will commence at the junction of Thornhill Road/Knappagh Road on Monday, 8th January with traffic management in place.  Some delays can be expected.

John Street Bus Stop:

Road marking works are due to be carried out at John Street bus stop on Monday, 8th January.  
Minor delays expected.


Pothole repair and Surface Drainage works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
